![]() Sigma Nu is a social, values-based fraternity that was founded at the Virginia Military Institute in 1869 and established at Columbia in 1908 as the Delta Gamma chapter. Columbia Community Outreach Day of Service.GlobeMed Trivia Night (fundraiser for GlobeMed).Youth for Debate Karaoke Night (proceeds to YFD).Additionally, the chapter frequently partners with other organizations to deliver large-scale philanthropy events throughout the year. The Columbia chapter maintains a weekly commitment with Community Soup Kitchen, One-to-One Tutoring, and Project Happy. Sigma Nu consistently engages in a wide range of philanthropic initiatives. ![]() 5.4 What brothers did during summer 2013.5.3 Campus leadership positions held by brothers.4 Community Service & Programmed Events.The fraternity has organized new campus fraternity and sorority initiatives, including partnerships with start-ups interested in launching at CU, a business speaker series, the Columbia Sigma Nu Historical Initiative, and cooperative campus programming with student groups such as the Columbia Iranian Students Association, Orchesis, GlobeMed, Quarto, CUSH, and Youth for Debate. The chapter has also earned achievement awards in philanthropy (presented to chapters that raise over $60 per member), community service (presented to chapters that complete over 20 service hours per member), and campus involvement (presented to chapters where over 60% are involved in another campus activity). The chapter has earned three consecutive 5 star ALPHA Standards of Excellence ratings in 2016, 2017, and 2018. The fraternity more commonly goes by its nickname Sig Nu. The chapter occupies a Brownstone at 556 West 113th street. ![]() Nu, Delta Gamma chapter, is one of the fraternities recognized by the Interfraternity Council.
